But it does make a point if you think about it.「ある冒険者の結末」 ( Aru Boukensha no Ketsumatsu) My opinion: No I don't think the Abridged did a better job, because it turned Sword Maiden in a selfish character and diminished her traumas. They simplified her feelings, favoring a bigger view. And why did she do that? Because of her selfish desires. Why didn't Sword Maiden simply pay an adventurer, made an excuse saying that it was not worth her time after killing the cult? Instead, she called the best guy, from another place, a guy who simply accepts a job as long as there are goblins to kill a few goblins. The Abridged version has a bigger view of the world, a general view. Overall, one takes a personal look, which is what Goblin Slayer Novel thus best, it makes us empathize with Sword Maiden, it makes us realize that even someone so powerful can also have its traumas. Goblin Slayer is angry with her because instead of being in a village, saving people that don't have any way to protect themselves, he was here in a place where someone with a giant Alligator could take care of the treat or even call any one in the planet, she called him and not only that he feels that she used her tragic backstory for him to feel pity and live with her. And with Goblin Slayer in the city, she wanted him to stay, stay with her. Why? So that Goblin Slayer could come to the Water City. For two reasons: Goblin Slayer only saw what happens with what happens to women but never experienced like Sword Maiden and while Sword Maiden has fear for goblins, Goblin Slayer has only hate and desire to kill them, he can't save her because he doesn't understand her and can't be the support that she needs, but promises to kill all the goblins that she needs.Ībridged version has another view, Sword Maiden set up the whole adventure, killed the cult and left only the goblins. Now, the conversation, Sword Maiden expected that Goblin Slayer would relate to her all she ever wanted was someone that she could relate to her pain the true terror of the Goblins. I might have analyzed wrong, but in the manga, the idea was there were goblins in sewers working for a cult of the Demon Lord, if the people of the water town knew were just Goblins they wouldn't get worried after all they have Sword Maiden a Gold Adventurer, but knowing that she couldn't fight goblins she made look that the goblins were a bigger threat than they were and asked for a specialist Goblin Slayer.

It was a bad take and I haven't touched anything of theirs since. Not just because it disrespects Sword Maiden (which given comments made in some other videos they made, it seems they just don't like SM) but because of how they just treat the subject entirely. Goblin Slayer's world wouldn't have anyone to help her. Effectively treating mental trauma is only a really recent thing in human history. No one really does and she can't go for help because they won't believe her or worse just toss her away. Use her resources or stuff but honestly, Goblin Slayer was her only option. The abridged version just goes on and on about how she should be 'stronger'. It was a small thing but it was a good way to start it.

He couldn't outright help her for the reasons said, but he would still be there. In canon Sword Maiden only started to get over it because Goblin Slayer, in his own weird way, was able to offer some sense of comfort. As if she should just get over it as though it was that easy. Goblin Slayer's tirade was horrible and felt more like victim blaming then anything. I know this is late but I absolutely hated Grimmjack's interpretation of Sword Maiden.

To be frank, as someone who did like that abridged series because I felt that it was doing a good job for the characters and story, that scene at the end between Goblin Slayer and Sword Maiden made me unsubscribe from them.
